This Urban Chic poster showcases the award winning facade work by the WJE team

“It was such a joy to create such a powerful architectural poster to celebrate the effort, expertise and collaboration that Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. brought to this remarkable restoration project,” said Parker.

This Urban Chic image showcases the award winning facade work by the WJE team. It also showcases the detail, care and craftsmanship used to restore this historic Indianapolis Ford Assembly Building. The poster features a 1915 Ford Model T Roadster manufactured at the site.

“I was so impressed by the exquisite visual character and appearance of the facade restoration in this Indianapolis automotive landmark,” says Parker.

The WJE Team gets the checkered flag and are in the winner’s circle with this project.

I am thrilled to be a part of Chicago Design Through the Decades, a century of design excellence in Chicago. This dazzling story is on view at Art on theMART nightly at 9:30pm starting Saturday, June 11th through Wednesday, June 15th. The Decades team has worked in conjunction with the Chicago Design Archive (CDA) to showcase a curated collection of amazing Chicago design history. “The Decades team has created a spectacular visual and sensory experience during NeoCon 2022,” said Parker.

Some of my favorite posters were integrated into the animation of “The Decades” film including: Frederic Goudy “The Titan of Type” — America’s designer of the shapes that dress our words. A Century of Progress Electrical Group Pavilion with its fabulous Art Deco facade sculpture by Alfonso Iannelli and the colorful imagery of Games On! Chicago’s Olympic Bid branding. “To see a 340 foot high Frederic Goudy or a runner from the Olympic series in motion will be something to behold,” said Parker.

Art on theMART is one of the great public art platforms on the globe — it is the largest permanent digital art projection on the planet, projecting contemporary artwork across the 2.5 acre river-facade of theMART. In September 2018, the launch of Art on theMART attracted over 32,000 people. “The people of Chicago should take a moment from their busy life to glimpse this fast-paced, breathtakingly beautiful interactive mural — visualized on a such a monumental scale,” said Parker.

A pop-up screening runs nightly June 11 – 15, 2022 during NeoCon 2022, the commercial interior design industry's annual exposition. The full exhibition run is November 18 – December 30, 2022 with an opening premiere on November 18, 2022 (so save the date!)

The project is best viewed on The Chicago Riverwalk between Wells and Lake Streets.

Illustration celebrates WJE’s award winning restoration of The Old Chicago Post Office

I just completed a commission for Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. on the landmark Old Chicago Post Office. “A dazzling Art Deco poster that captures the essence of this colossal architectural structure,” said Parker.

1934 was a very good year in Chicago. A Century of Progress World’s Fair showcased the fabulous Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow automobile. Awesome Airships soared across the heavens as spectacular searchlights criss-cross the night sky.

And the Chicago Main Post Office — a magnificent Art Deco marvel was completed in 1934.

The Old Post Office — a mammoth architecture challenge became the award-winning restoration in 2019.

“H. G. Wells: A Time Traveler’s Life” print series is the National Parks Arts Foundation’s Instagram featured weekend post

This fine-art print series by Artist Rex Parker, “H. G. Wells: a Time Traveler’s Life”, commemorates the 125th anniversary of H. G. Wells’ first novel, The Time Machine. The H. G. Wells posters of Teddy & Franklin Roosevelt celebrate how each president championed national parks and the arts.

“The National Parks Arts Foundation does just amazing work, I am honored to be the featured artist on their weekend Instagram post,” said Rex.

The National Parks Arts Foundation (NPAF) works directly with select artists and the National Park Service (and their affiliates) to create unique Artist in Residency programs within the wonders of America’s national parks. The NPAF also works closely with museums, galleries, and curators to keep the residency programs relevant to the art world beyond the parks and bring the highest caliber of artists to the parks.

The NPAF has produced over 300 programs and supported over 120 artists through their National Parks Artists in Residence programs. This work is done in partnership with the National Park Service, connecting the parks with real working artists who are inspired by and working in the parks. The residencies also provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for artists to work on projects of their choice, away from the distractions of normal life.

Parker’s exuberant, Art Deco-inspired illustrations transport us back to the world of Wells and his thrilling era of iconic designers, writers, scientists, space explorers, world leaders, and one Invisible Man. You can check out “The Invisible Man” print on Instagram @nationalparksarts.
